Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These

Feel the hype!! Feel the horror!! That's exactly what this episode is trying to make us experience. I can say it's not just the higher-ups who are deadass incompetent, these people can't stay calm or think patiently either... god damn. I guess that's just human nature. Humans never lose their survival instinct, next up is supposed to be another great war, stay tune.

Bruh, this is so real. Having someone who constantly wants to climb the ranks is such a pain in the ass. Sooner or later, your ideals are bound to clash with theirs. That's exactly what this episode is trying to tell us. Even if you have no intention of doing anything wrong, there will always be someone who wants to bring you down. It's a pretty common situation in the workplace, and this anime somehow portrays it perfectly. BTW, the facial expressions and character acting are still great, though they feel like they've dropped by just a tiny bit compared to the previous episodes.

Damn, this anime's political conflicts are no different from real life. Just like "they" always do, they carry out their so called "mighty duties", only to make the situation even worse. But Yang is a giving perfect example here. He doesn't want to be glorified, he sees himself as no different from everyone else. That's exactly why he's a true hero. If everyone else isn't treated the same way, then he doesn't want any special treatment either. Yangoat is honestly better than 70–80% of real life governments... and 100% better than Indonesian's. Welp, putting that aside, the animation remains consistently great. There's no noticeable drop in quality, and even the smallest interactions are properly animated, Huge W. BTW, the director made everything clear enough for us to understand the consequences of war and its impact on society. That's another massive W for the director.

This episode has its own special charm. Right from the beginning, it shows us that "Failure is often caused by an incompetent commander." And honestly, Yang was right all along. It's the commander's duty to lead their soldiers to victory. Throughout this anime, we constantly see incompetent commanders, or, sarcastically speaking, "boomers" who refuse to listen to the younger generation, ultimately leading everyone to disaster. That seems to be one of the recurring messages the series has been conveying so far. This episode was surprisingly funny because of how random it could be, yet it still managed to stay cool... and, well, a little GAY i i guess😭 Oh yea, there is a familiar voice i heard... yare yare daze...

I swear, they never miss when it comes to battle scenes. No, not just the battle scenes, every tense moment gets me. This anime was clearly made to make you feel every moment, and its ideologies are always on full display. Welp, even though Reinhard hasn't appeared much lately, we still got to see Earth's efforts... Hmm, no it was actually the 13th Armada's efforts to preserve the peace. Well, well, well... the animation is, without a doubt, hella cool and fluid. There are a few reused shots, but I mean... for battle scenes on this scale, that's completely understandable. At least they don't replay the same sequence 3 to 5 times like Gear 5's awakening scene lmao. I also just realized the opening was composed by Sawano Hiroyuki, the same composer behind Aldnoah 0's Soundtrack. No wonder it sounds so damn beautiful.

An introduction to Yang Wen-li's subordinates... yep, that's basically what this episode is, with a bit of annoyance thanks to "that guy" at the very end. But welp, let's leave that as a cliffhanger for the next episode. Nothing much to praise about the animation here, it simply stays consistent, and that's all it needed to do.

Erm... how do I even describe this episode? Peaceful... yet not so peaceful- ye ye something like that. Okay, that aside, this episode serves as a continuation of the aftermath of the 1st episode's war, The Astarte War. Here, we get to see just how deeply Yang sticks to his ideals. I can totally understand him, he's not the type of person who likes being glorified for his achievements. Yeah, he's the complete opposite of Reinhard. If I had to compare him to someone, he'd be pretty similar to Inaho from Aldnoah 0, if you know what i mean. Even though this is mostly a "peaceful" episode, the animation is still incredibly smooth. They didn't even try to cut corners or save the budget. Sasuga Production I.G.

OH!?!?!! SO THAT'S HOW THEY'RE PLAYING THIS? OKAYYY, I'M IN. The previous episode was all about Reinhard's backstory, and now we get Yang's. This is truly a golden experience... giving us so much more emotional depth from both perspectives instead of making the story feel one-sided. Hmm... what's the closest comparison I can think of? Breaking Bad, I guess... The story itself is great, and the dynamic between these three is really enjoyable. We finally get to learn who Jean is after seeing them face Reinhard in the very first episode. Man... anime like this is so hard to find nowadays.

A 2D animation managed to portray this much emotion... I mean, yeah, it's Production I.G, a studio behind so many great anime. But man... I just can't get bored watching a flashback like this. The story, the soundtrack, and THE ANIMATION are all absolutely beautiful here. Annerose? Nah, that's just Mari Ohara from another universe lmao. But welp, that's all I have to say about this episode, a backstory of our king, Reinhard.

MAAANNNN, tell me... has another recap episode ever been this hype? The director is a damn genius ngl. This episode is basically the Free Planets Alliance's POV of the same war. Sure, it works as a continuation of the story, but you know what I mean... They somehow managed to make us, no, even complete newcomers understand exactly what was happening on the battlefield. They made us feel what the soldiers were going through. It was surprisingly funny at times, yet also an incredibly smart storytelling move, damn. OH YEAH, ONE MORE THING!! the facial expressions are HELLAAA expressive. I honestly haven't seen many anime with this level of character expression. Most shows rely on still frames or just a little eye and mouth movement while the characters are talking. But this anime conveys emotions in every way possible, making every reaction feel alive, IT WAS FIREEE.

Holy shit, 2016–2018 really gave us a ton of amazing anime bro... And this one? It's actually a remake of the 1988 series rite? GOD DAMN, THEY ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT. I've got so many things to say about this. First, let's talk about the story. Just a heads up, I've never watched the 1988 version, so this remake is my first experience with the series. The storytelling is easy enough for newcomers to follow, yet it still preserves all the mystery and depth behind its massive lore. It never feels overwhelming despite how large the world is. Second, the opening and ending songs carry so much emotional weight for absolutely no reason, they're just so damn beautiful. And lastly, the animation quality... Of course there's a lot of CGI! how else are you supposed to animate massive fleets of spaceships fighting across entire galaxies? The best part is that they actually pulled it off. The CGI blends naturally with the 2D animation, making every space battle look smooth and cinematic instead of awkward. On top of that, the modernized art style looks much cleaner and more polished than the 1988 version while still respecting the original's identity. This is easily one of the greatest anime remakes a studio has ever produced. No doubt about it, this anime got me completely hooked.

GOD DANG IT, THE ENDING WAS SUCH AN ANTI-CLIMAX!!! Okay, no cap they absolutely went crazy with the animation here. The 13th Armada's fighter squadron sequences were insane lol. The soundtrack was incredible too. It felt so uncanny... ironic, tragic, yet at the same time incredibly hype and full of pride. This anime is packed with complex political themes and conflicting ideals, and that's exactly what makes it so engaging. Welp, that's it for the main story. Now it's time to watch Seiran (Stellar War). It's only four episodes long, and honestly, it's way better than ending on a cliffhanger. hmm imma rate this anime... kaboom kablaw/10
