📖 SYNOPSIS

"Overture to a New War" depicts the escalating conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance. The story begins with the Empire, led by the brilliant Reinhard von Müsel, crushing the Alliance in the Fourth Battle of Tiamat. Reinhard's victory earns him a hero's welcome and a promotion to High Admiral, granting him the title of Count von Lohengramm. Across the galaxy, Yang Wen-li returns to the Alliance capital, reuniting with friends.

Despite the recent battle, both sides anticipate further conflict. At the behest of Duke Otho von Braunschweig, the Imperial High Command orders Reinhard to invade the Alliance. The Alliance, alerted to the plan, dispatches three fleets to counter the attack, setting the stage for a recreation of the Battle of Dagon. Though outnumbered, Reinhard possesses a strategic plan, which Yang Wen-li recognizes. The narrative explores themes of military strategy, political intrigue, and the contrasting leadership styles of Reinhard and Yang.
