In a corrupt empire, a star-born hero must master his celestial powers and unite with other warriors to stop a tyrannical shogun from achieving godhood.

📖 SYNOPSIS

A hot-headed 16-year-old martial artist, Taitou lives under a corrupt empire he despises. During his coming-of-age ceremony, he's handed a legendary sword called the Kenkaranpu — and can't even draw it. Then a mysterious figure named Shimei shows up, reveals that Taitou is actually the reincarnation of Hagun, a celestial star tied to the Big Dipper, and proceeds to threaten his sister Laila to force out his dormant power. It works. Taitou briefly unleashes something terrifying, but Shimei still escapes with the sword. So now Taitou, Laila, and their level-headed friend Ryuukou are on a journey to get it back — all while a power-hungry general named Keirou, who embodies the rival celestial star, is tightening his grip on the empire. The whole thing draws heavily from Chinese folklore and history, which gives the world a flavor you don't see much in shounen. The celestial power system based on the Big Dipper constellation is a genuinely cool hook, and Masaru Yokoyama's soundtrack carries the emotional weight where it needs to. At 26 episodes, it doesn't overstay its welcome. The vibe sits somewhere between the political tension of The Twelve Kingdoms and the brotherhood-and-destiny energy of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, with some of the mythological drama of Fushigi Yuugi mixed in. If you're into martial arts fantasy with a Chinese historical backdrop and don't mind a classic shounen structure, this one's worth the ride.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You enjoy classic shounen destiny arcs—Taito's celestial reborn hero journey fits that mold perfectly
A 26-episode martial arts adventure set in ancient China sounds like your kind of thing
You don't mind a slow build if it pays off with an intense, satisfying climax
The soundtrack's old China aesthetic and mood-matching themes are a genuine highlight here

❌ SKIP IF...

You're tired of stereotypical hot-headed teen protagonists with hidden superpowers—Taito's exactly that
Studio Flag's animation feels stiff and cheap, especially during battle scenes that should pop
Early episodes dump you into the world with zero immersion—rough if you need a clean setup
