Episode Context

Sitting at the end of the series' first act, episode five of twenty-six, this follows the character-establishment phase capped by 'Chapter Four: Divine Warrior,' where Taito began accepting his celestial warrior destiny. 'Ailing Empire' serves as a pivotal bridge episode, expanding the scope from personal stakes to empire-wide conflict and positioning Lord Keiro's tyranny as the driving antagonistic force. It lays essential groundwork for the confrontations and escalating tensions that will define the show's approaching middle stretch.
