Love the director’s choice to shift the aspect ratio during the encounter, it makes the horror so much more immersive! The OP and ED are already stuck in my head, and the art style swap between standard anime and that sketchbook/watercolor look is stunning. This show’s creative direction is just next-level.

The action starts to pick up, and the animation stays very sharp. The pacing is good for an early episode as it introduces more danger. The art for the ruined city looks very realistic.

Now that I see it for the second time, I somehow understand the characters form past ad present. But, there are still questions that can only be answered through meticulously watching this anime. I love the mystery and intensity of every parts of the character. Just wondering why are there are monsters in the first place. I think every children from the so called Tomato Heaven, were genetically modified humans.
