EPISODE REVIEWS

Great start! The cinematography and audio design are insane. Production I.G really snapped on this adaptation. I’m already loving the chemistry between Maru and Kiruko, they feel so natural together. The transition between the two worlds is seamless. 10/10 vibes so far.

Episode Context

Heavenly Delusion opens with a masterful split narrative that immediately earns its mystery credentials. Two worlds collide without ever touching: a pristine, eerily calm facility where children like Tokio exist under robotic guardianship, and a ruined post-apocalyptic Japan where Maru and Kiruko fight to survive among crumbling infrastructure and unknown threats. Production I.G delivers atmosphere in spades, the sterile serenity of one setting contrasts sharply with the gritty tension of the other, creating an unsettling push-pull that demands attention. The pacing is deliberate and confident, trusting viewers to sit with questions rather than rushing to answers. Expect world-building over action, mood over exposition. The episode plants seeds of curiosity about what connects these parallel existences, establishing a contemplative yet suspenseful tone that signals this series has no interest in hand-holding.
