Tanaka saving that ball with his foot was the coolest thing he has ever done and it kept the momentum going when everything looked bleak

Getting to see why Shirabu chose Shiratorizawa over a school with more flare was great, it makes his simple setting style feel so much more intentional. The clash between Ukai and Washijo is getting so personal and I can tell it is about way more than just a game for those two men. Karasuno is fighting so hard right now.

Tendo is seriously terrifying with those guess blocks, and his weird little dance after shutting down Tanaka made me want to reach through the screen and punch him.

You know the match is serious when even Oikawa shows up to watch and judge everyone from the stands with that smug look on his face

My jaw is still on the floor after seeing Tsukishima truly scream like that and he really has changed so much since the first season

It was funny watching Hinata get so worked up over being called crude but then he turned that anger into the best jump of the match

Hinata absolutely blew me away when he launched himself from way outside the court; I didn't think he could pull off such an insane spike, really telling Ushijima that height isn't everything. He's always finding new ways to defy expectations, and this one felt huge for him.

I finally understand why the coach is so bitter after seeing that flashback and he just wants to prove that raw power is the only way to win because of what happened to him

Tanaka is always there when things look bad. That kick save was absolutely insane and he keeps the energy up even when Ushijima is blasting holes in the floor

espadada_grimmjow_460
When I found out the coach got rejected because of his height, it totally clicked why he's so obsessed with Ushijima. It's like he's trying to live out his own dreams through this powerhouse, and suddenly, his intensity towards Hinata makes so much more sense – it feels really personal to me now.

I saw Hinata take that huge wide run and his jump was so high he looked like a bird. He really showed Ushijima that being short is not a death sentence in this game

Oikawa pretending he does not care while sitting in the stands is hilarious. We all know he is dying to be on that court and his commentary with Iwaizumi is the only way to survive this tension

Watching Tsukishima actually yell after that block was everything. He is finally catching the bug and seeing him care this much makes every strategic move he makes even better

Nishinoya screaming at the blockers that he can see the ball now was such a cool moment and the way he just absorbs those cannon spikes makes him the best libero

You can really feel the pressure Shirabu is under when he starts blaming himself and that flashback made his obsession with the individual power of Ushijima make so much sense

It hit me hard to see Tsukishima actually caring about the game and that constant clicking of his tongue shows how much he is overthinking every single play
yuno_yukikaze_139's avatar
yuno_yukikaze_139
I actually felt bad for Shirabu after seeing his backstory and how much he fears Coach Washijo, but it explains why he only wants to set for raw power. That ideological clash between the two coaches is getting so intense, especially with Hinata proving that height isn't everything by using his speed to reach the same level as the giants

Tendo is such a menace with those guess blocks and his little dance makes it so much worse for the Karasuno boys to keep their cool during this set

Hinata taking that massive approach run from outside the lines was insane and his jump looked like actual wings in the air he really shut Ushijima up after being called crude

Tanaka always steps up with those clutch saves like that crazy kick at the end and I think he is the glue holding this team together when things get stressful

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the exact halfway point of a season dedicated entirely to the Karasuno vs. Shiratorizawa match, Episode 5 arrives after Karasuno clawed back a set and now faces the brutal reality of sustaining that energy against an elite opponent regrouping. This episode deepens the tactical chess match and sharpens the personal stakes for key players, setting up the back half of the season where every point carries decisive weight toward nationals.
