Golden Kamuy Season 4
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The race to obtain the lost Ainu gold is nearing its peak, as even more formidable ex-prisoners are set on keeping their tattooed skins intact. Saichi "The Immortal" Sugimoto and Asirpa can finally move forward together, but Asirpa's time with Kiroranke and Ogata Hyakunosuke has slightly altered her ambition and strengthened her determination. As their party leaves the Russian territory, they gain a peculiar follower. Meanwhile, Toshizou Hijikata's crew makes major moves to get invaluable skins, falling into the poisonous trap of a dangerous convict. Although each group possesses a strong advantage over the others, even First Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi—the most powerful and ruthless contender—cannot advance without Asirpa's help. However, his ominous plans for when they will inevitably meet remain a mystery.

I'm still disturbed by Usami's "investigating", but he reveals his jealousy while telling more about Ogata. My tear ducts unleashed on my face as Sugi unburdens himself to Asirpa, reassuring her. Asirpa closes this arc with emotion and vigor, stealing any water left in my ducts!
I'm gasping for air from that Botaro & Sugi battle while also grinning from Shiraishi's "help". Crazy Usami had me disgusted but cracking up. Also, I need red yarn to track who's working for who, I'm all twisted. The ending had Sugi, Asirpa, and me regretting their past choices.
The 3 main treasure groups are on a collision course and that is redlining my anxiety. Sugi & Asirpa's well animated battle with a new character had me sparring a ghost. All this paired with Sugi's past hitting me in the feels & the cliffhanger had me guessing, friend or foe.
Baby and family drama that gives you that "warm and fuzzy" feeling is undercut with sadness & self reflection. Not much plot driving but a good episode for character development & backstory. Tsurumi's mind-altering magic is fading and once mindless drones are starting to think.
That opening scene drama, Ogata's return, and finding the gold without the skins? Yet, all of that pales in comparison to the disturbing backstory that dominates this episode and Tsurumi's twisted hold on his unquestioning followers. It ALL disturbed me deeply to my CORE!
Jarring visuals, psychological tension, and a creepy new character grab your eyeballs, albeit reluctantly watching sometimes. A misunderstood Ainu tale, a mystery case to solve, an emotional origin story, and an off-putting new guy make this side story worth the small detour.
Beast mode in both action and animation, showcasing how brutal this show can get with its fights. Asirpa and Sugimoto's adventure has changed them, the theme "can you ever go back to who you were" roots into the mind of both our mains. Oh, and can't forget about that cliffhanger!
Hijikata and Tsurumi face off in a battle of 4D chess leaving you biting your nails. Double agents and calculated moves keep the nervous tension HIGH! Tsurumi's carefully woven SWEET LIES untangle & the 7th Division's ugly face leaks from the mask. Yes, ugly & leak, pun INTENDED!
Lulls you into almost missing some of the most hilarious and heart wrenching moments in the series. Moving pictures bring the Ainu culture to life but also the sad knowledge of culture loss. Ainu Asirpa had my left eye WEEPING TEARS and Director Asirpa my right one CRY LAUGHING!
On point animated chase scenes, raw heartfelt stories, and intense action sequences reveal Koito's past, but hidden in there is a puppet master. Tsurumi's in everyone's story and I can't wait for the pay off. I have said it before, Tsurumi is an epic villain!
Great watch, despite regurgitated food, no thank you. We get more treasure seekers adding to the growing chaos, that was already crazy enough. The intense action had me alert the whole time, add in GK male nudity, and a cool history lesson and GK is now EDUCATIONAL action comedy.
Classic GK humor shines through and had me grabbing my sides. Toss in the previous poison plot and it adds high stakes tension with laughs. I felt fear for other characters that I usually reserve for Sugi or Asirpa. That mixture will have you going back and forth, comedy gold!
Great return to what makes GK, GK, and a worthwhile watch. The curveball action and appealing animation keep your eyes locked in as our duo battles forward. Parallel running stories create tension for everyone and new characters are winding the path to the treasure even more.
This season ends on a quiet note, I believe Golden Kamuy shines when both Asirpa and Sugimoto are on screen. This episode really emphasizes the bond between Sugimoto and Asirpa
Following the last episode, this episode features an underwater fight .This episode hightlight the natural advantage Botaro in the water against other humans. This episode also feature the most bizarre fight ever made, you have to see it to believe it.
This episode features a very good boat action scene, Botaro the Pirate was introduced here and steals this episode being on par with strength with Ushiyama
An emotional episode to be sure, with the previous 3 seasons on Tanigaki finding a purpose in life after the war, this episode finally gives him a purpose instead on being a man lost and wandering
This episode serves as an introduction to the Sapporo serial killer arc, this also features flashback on Tokishige, without spoiling anything he probably the most unhinged and devout follower of Tsurumi in the entire 7th division
The style of this episode mimics a comedy horror movie format. You have a semmingly normal setting contrasted with a bizarre and almost surreal ending. The show managed to be good despite the tonal shift
Throughout the entire series Tsurumi is insistent on using the Ainu gold on building a new state for Japan, However when he comes face to face with Asirpa his personality shifts hinting on a deeper and more personal motivation than he says.
