This series was amazing and mostly this episode was a fine one. The way it shows their reactions to the goods that the SDF gave was spectacular. I'd rate this series 10/10 and the episode 10/10, AMAZING!!!
GATE
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A portal rips open in Tokyo's Ginza district, and out pour dragons, medieval soldiers, and all manner of fantasy creatures — and the Japan Self-Defense Forces have to deal with it. Youji Itami, a JSDF officer whose real priority in life is making it to his doujin convention on time, ends up saving civilians during the attack and gets promoted for it. His reward? Leading a recon team through the gate into a whole other world where swords and sorcery are the norm, and his squad rolls in with helicopters and assault rifles. That's the core tension that makes GATE work. It's not just a power fantasy where modern military stomps everything — though there's plenty of that, and it's satisfying — it's also about what happens when two completely incompatible civilizations suddenly have to figure each other out. Itami is a weirdly perfect protagonist for it: laid-back, nerdy, not particularly ambitious, but competent when it counts. The show takes its military hardware seriously, depicting JSDF operations with a level of detail you don't usually see in anime. This is a 12-episode TV series from A-1 Pictures, adapted from a light novel, and it hits a sweet spot between action set pieces and worldbuilding. If you liked Saga of Tanya the Evil for the military strategy angle, or Log Horizon for the methodical approach to an unfamiliar world, GATE scratches a similar itch. It's less about individual power and more about logistics, diplomacy, and occasionally pointing an APC at a fire dragon.
