I can not believe Alphonse really gave up his soul to get Ed his arm back and seeing that armor crumble made me lose it

That moment Father started spitting out those creepy soul puppets from Xerxes was genuinely terrifying and seeing a baby one grab Izumi was too much

Watching Mustang fire off those massive blasts while Hawkeye was acting as his eyes was so cool and their teamwork is unmatched

Even Hohenheim looked completely spent after taking all those hits for his sons but he still managed to point out how Father was leaking power and losing control and seeing the shadows and faces erupting from Father's torso showed he was failing

Greed realizing he just wanted friends this whole time instead of power made his fight against Father hit way harder than expected

Man that part where Alphonse meets his real body at the gate was heavy and the way he just disappeared after everything they went through made the whole thing feel so permanent and seeing his empty armor turn to dust was the saddest thing

I was literally yelling at my screen when Al started that transmutation because it felt so final and sad but seeing Ed get his real arm back made the following beatdown on Father so worth it because you could feel his pure anger in every single punch he landed on that monster while everyone cheered him on from the sidelines and I just couldn't stop shaking

Watching Mustang snap his fingers while Hawkeye literally acted as his eyes because he can't see was such a powerful moment for their bond, and seeing the whole military unit backing them up made the scale feel huge and those massive fire blasts finally forced Father to stop acting so smug

Riza being Roy's eyes while he blasts everything in sight shows how much they trust each other and it's easily the best part of the fight

Total chaos in Central when that huge beam of light shot into the sky and destroyed half the building but seeing Olivier stay so calm while the building fell apart was amazing and her handing the radio to Alex shows how much she actually trusts him

My heart sank when Al disappeared to the Gate but seeing him reunited with his original body there gave me a tiny bit of peace

The way everyone from Briggs to Mustang jumped in to take down Father felt so satisfying after all that build up and tension

I was actually shaking when May Chang helped Al finish that transmutation and the blue sparks everywhere made the whole sacrifice feel so much heavier and Al telling May he believes in Ed made the whole thing so much sadder

That scene where Greed said he just wanted some friends while fighting alongside everyone else really changed how his whole character felt during this final push and his back and forth with Ling while they jumped Father was a great touch

I had to pause the video when Ed got his arm back because his face looked so scary and the way he just started beating the life out of Father was insane and the sound of those alchemical punches hitting Father in the crater was brutal

It was a bit weird and awkward seeing Father produce all those naked human figures from the souls of Xerxes, but it definitely showed how much of a monster he really is under that blonde exterior and those moaning puppets stumbling around the battlefield really hammered home the horror of what happened to Hohenheim's people

Seeing those gross soul puppets crawl out of Father was actually disturbing, but it really drove home how little he cares about human life.

I can't believe Alphonse actually gave up his soul to give Edward his arm back and my eyes are still blurry from crying about it
kurabokko_18's avatar
kurabokko_18
I can't even describe the feeling when Ed stood up with his human arm and started wrecking Father and you could tell he was doing it for Al and his rage was pouring out with every hit and the way the music started playing was just the perfect way to end the fight because he finally looked like a threat to a god and seeing Ed stand over the crater with his new arm felt like a massive turning point

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly following the devastating events of episode 61, where Father ascended to god-like power, this episode represents the protagonists' unified last stand — the payoff of alliances and character growth built across the entire series. As the second-to-last major conflict episode before the finale, it bridges the escalation of Father's transformation with the climactic resolution in 'The Other Side of the Gateway.' Skipping this episode means missing one of Brotherhood's most cathartic action set pieces and the emotional groundwork for the series conclusion.
