Aside from the bad animation, this episode is okay. Akira joins the Counter EX-ARM team and does his job pretty quickly. The pacing is okay as well.
We get some semblance of an overarching plot here. It does make me curious what exactly happened in between the years for Akira as well as how society had changed due to that one tragedy. The main conflict for this episode was resolved fairly well in my opinion, but it feels a bit lackluster in execution.
Once you get used to the clunky animation and stiff character models, the story underneath is decent enough. I don't really like how Akira is already somewhat integrated into the team for a supposed super weapon but I shouldn't expect too much. I do wish he had some kind of outfit in his virtual mindscape because I hate having to see his average anime dude body naked.
