It is wild how this series actually takes the time to build a real psychological atmosphere instead of just jumping into the action. Seeing Midori get caught in that trap at Naomi's mansion was genuinely disturbing, and it makes you realize why people still talk about this one as a pioneer for the darker side of the genre even now.

that catholic school setting makes the whole bdsm aesthetic feel so much more transgressive and weirdly moody for a show from the eighties

the psychological mind games between rie and midori are what really stuck with me because they feel so complex for an eighties show

This episode was way more of a drama than the first part. Seeing how the three of them are basically stuck in this emotional loop is fascinating

you can really feel how much darker the escalation gets once they reach the mansion and the yuri scenes start getting way more intense

That shift where Midori finally shows some real emotion toward Rie makes their whole weird relationship feel way more complicated than before

I was not expecting Forbidden Sonata to be this quiet, but seeing Rie and Midori deal with their feelings for each other was actually pretty moving for an old title like this one and it feels like they are building up to a massive disaster in the next part, and the way Naomi just watches them from the sidelines makes me so nervous

It is crazy how much time they spent on just the vibes between the girls instead of rushing into the plot and the music made the piano scenes feel so melancholic

Rie looking so lonely at the piano was a huge mood and it changed how the whole Escalation story feels for the viewer now

My heart was sinking during that final scene because you can just tell that the bond between Naomi and Rie is going to lead to something messy soon

That quiet talk between Midori and Naomi where the show really slows down was actually really nice and it made the later stuff feel more earned

Watching Rie and Midori get closer feels like a trap, and knowing there is a third part coming makes every little look they give each other feel super heavy

I am actually surprised by how much Rie and Midori were interacting this time and the piano music made the whole atmosphere feel way more intense than I expected

That piano scene with Rie stayed in my head and it was so much more about the mood than just the usual stuff you see in these old ovas

That scene where Naomi calls them her pets made me realize how messed up this power dynamic is and I love how Hirano draws these characters

Naomi having three girlfriends and treating them like toys is pretty wild, and the psychological games she plays actually make the drama work

Seeing Rie struggle with her feelings for Midori while Naomi pulls all the strings makes this feel like more than just a typical adult video

The tension between the girls in the bedroom feels way more intense than the first episode and Naomi being a total dominatrix is a lot to take in

I found the way Naomi controls Midori and Rie so unsettling but the 80s art style really sells the dark vibe of their relationship

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off 'Escalation: Hardcore Tonight,' which laid the relational groundwork for Rie, Midori, and Naomi, this episode functions as a deepening phase — pushing those established dynamics into more psychologically complex territory. At episode 6 of 38, the series is still in its early character-building stage, and this installment prioritizes emotional architecture over plot acceleration. What unfolds here sets the emotional conditions that subsequent entries in the Escalation arc will draw on.
