The way the show captures how isolated Ami feels is actually pretty heavy and you can really see the desperation when she goes to that club and it makes the whole situation with Kouno feel much more predatory and gross because he knows exactly how to step in and play the hero after the photographer tries to mess with her at the shoot

Ami looks so completely lost without Hiroshi around and seeing her get drunk enough to let Kouno into her life like that was hard to watch

I felt so uncomfortable watching Ryuji Kouno take advantage of Ami at the disco, especially since she was so clearly out of it and just missing Hiroshi

That photographer trying to take advantage of Ami while she was just starting her idol career was disgusting because it felt like everyone was just out to use her for something

My heart broke for Ami during that scene where she told her friends about her brother and they actually stayed by her side and supported her. It was the only kind moment in a really dark episode

That talent agent is the worst and it makes the idol debut feel really gross knowing how it started

The soap opera vibes are so strong in this one and the way they separated the siblings felt so cruel for Ami

Kawano is absolutely disgusting and it is wild how this show goes from incest drama to a straight up assault scene like that

I really did not expect Hiroshi to just be gone like that, because their connection was the whole point of the first part. Seeing Ami fall apart in that nightclub was crushing and then Kawano taking advantage of her made it even worse. Turning her into an idol feels like a total 180, and it worries me for her now.

It is weird seeing her as an idol now, especially after what happened at the club with that agent

The animation style for the mid eighties is still so good even if the story is super depressing and messed up for Ami

The nightclub scene with Kawano was actually hard to watch and it made you feel sick for Ami after everything she already went through

Seeing her go from that traumatic assault to being an idol felt really fast and it is hard to know how to feel about it yet

I hate that her stepmother just shipped Hiroshi off and left Ami all alone to deal with that creep Kawano

I feel so bad for Ami and the way Hiroshi just got sent away to London left her completely broken and vulnerable

The old school art style from the mid eighties makes the drama feel way more raw and it really captures the depressing mood when Ami is staring at Hiroshi's empty seat

Ami getting separated from Hiroshi, and him being sent to London, really affected me more than I expected it would. Watching her try to cope by getting close to Mr Kinoshita is really sad because she is so clearly vulnerable and lost. It has that classic grainy animation style and the drama feels much heavier than your average early adult anime.

Seeing Ami latch onto Mr Kinoshita so fast after Hiroshi left shows how broken she is and the student teacher thing just adds to the mess

When the stepmother catches them and ships Hiroshi off to another country it makes the whole vibe shift into something really sad

I felt so bad for Ami when Hiroshi got sent away to London because that stepmother is cold and now Ami is just drifting alone at school

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode arrives in the early stretch of the 38-episode run, directly following 'Be My Baby,' where Ami and Hiroshi's relationship is exposed and Hiroshi is sent to London. 'Ami Again' functions as the emotional exhale after that rupture, centering Ami's grief and resilience rather than advancing external plot. It lays the psychological groundwork for Ami's continued character arc in episodes ahead.
