The strategy talk during the match was fantastic. Pacing of this episode is great and the animation looks good too.

finally the team now was officially build by having chihaya a positive attributes and not giving up in whatever dilemma they overcome.

It's weird that it took 8 episodes for the anime to actually explain the mechanics of Karuta. I just thought it was a first-touch game. Tho it's problematic that they're fatshaming Nishida for the humor, but I guess that was "comedy" and socially "acceptable" in the 2010s.

Never expected who the last member of the karuta club would be! Chihaya keeps trying hard to recruit people. Once the match starts, the vibe gets tense and both players feel strong. Love the character dynamics, it’s getting more interesting from here!

As much as I love Chihaya, I do think her stubborn nature and pushy behaviour sometimes might deter some people, I'm just glad that it was Nishida this episode. I really like how this episode shows a little bit about reigniting passion, which I hope will be explored again later.

the writing here is unforced, nothing rushed and nothing dragged out unnaturally. the pacing leans slow which suits the show, though im 8 eps in and still not fully hooked on the karuta itself yet.

where IS arata, ep 8 and the boy is missing in action??? the build up is nice but i need my emotional damage back. lighthearted is fine but i was promised tears

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episodes 6 and 7 brought Kanade and Tsutomu into the fold, and episode 8 represents the final recruitment push — the club needs one more member to become official. This installment is the culmination of the team-building arc that has defined the early portion of the season, setting the stage for Mizusawa to transition from a scrappy startup into a legitimate competitive unit ready for tournament play.
