taichi is just looking so cute as usual. i honestly love the new girl so much already. showing up to a massive national competition wearing such a lame shirt is so funny. i thought it was some kind of special ritual but it turns out they are both just massive weirdos tbh.

the narrative wisely avoids utilizing sudden protagonist advantages here. establishing the massive skill gap between the current queen and the challenger ensures that the internal logic of the tournament remains intact. allowing a victory here would ruin the established scaling.

The fact that the literal queen of the game is just some kid brah, I was sitting here thinking that if chihaya actually somehow wins this match it would be the most insane plot armor ever. but yeah thank god there is no way she is winning this.
