she honestly reminds me so much of hinata shoyo from haikyuu lowkey. taichi is just being so cute again and seeing their friendships develop like this almost made me cry. it is just so nice watching all of them care about each other so deeply during these tough matches.

the mechanical animation during the matches is highly effective. the motion avoids feeling stiff despite the rapid movements required for the game. the production team excels at resource management by maintaining clear visual tracking without over animating unnecessary actions.

Watching that poor guy literally be unable to move his hand any faster was actually so brutal. I am just so glad there was no random flashback power up to save them here. It is so much better when the story just lets the characters actually take a real loss.

This was a distressing moment for the team, but definitely a remarkable experience for them.
still they choose to be more efficient and effective for the team improvement.

This episode showed that it's not always rainbows and butterflies in the world of competitive karuta. Defeat is painful but it's a means to improve themselves and be a better athlete. My heart aches for Taichi, but he was a dipshi as a kid so this must be karma. I love him tho <3

Chihaya’s still not giving up, and her opponent isn’t backing down either. You can kinda feel the gap as things go on. The vibe chills a bit, then gets intense again for Taichi’s match. Their team dynamic really shows, even without saying much.

A needed arc for our main characters. It is heartbreaking, especially hearing their inner dialogue, how they felt during the moment. But with this, they could grow and hopefully become stronger. I have a feeling this is the end of an arc too, can't wait for the next one!

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode follows directly from Chihaya's pivotal encounter with the reigning Queen, unpacking the personal revelations and emotional fallout from that match. It simultaneously shifts focus toward Taichi's Class B finals progression, broadening the season's competitive scope beyond Chihaya alone. Positioned at the season's exact midpoint, it serves as a crucial bridge — consolidating the growth themes of the first half while laying essential groundwork for the escalating challenges ahead.
