This is where the sports aspect really starts clicking for me. The tension is more noticeable, but the series still finds plenty of room for wholesome interactions and goofy moments. It strikes a nice balance that keeps things exciting without losing the charm that made me stick around.

It was quite surprising that this episode covered not only the second round but also the remainder of the prefectural qualifiers. I guess Hikari's turn took up most of the previous episode's runtime 😅. I was a bit disappointed that Yukio's turn wasn't given the same level of focus, as with the previous episode. I was especially looking forward to seeing the other competitors' reactions during her turn. Just like in the previous episode, the soundtrack does an excellent job of carrying the episode, elevating both the tension during the competition and the emotional moments. On top of that, the eccentric personalities and over-the-top reactions of the characters make the episode even more entertaining adding a fun contrast to the supposed serious atmosphere of the tournament.

Why is this episode very emotional? Because this theme has High stakes with little seriousness as well as a strong emotional and psychological effect on Erika and Akira, mirroring the sport rivalry with the high tension of a tournament
