kushina_kunoichi★★★☆☆EP 44Momotaro doing peekaboo tricks with a millet dumpling while a cat gets confused is so funny
Snow White, but everyone's a cat. That's the first episode of Neko Mukashibanashi, and honestly, the concept pretty much sells itself. This ONA takes classic folk tales and fairy tales from around the world and just drops cats into them, then lets the chaos unfold. In the Snow White retelling, you've got Kijitora, a tabby cat completely convinced they're the fairest in the land, and Shironeko playing the Snow White role. The jealousy arc plays out about how you'd expect, except it's cats, so everything lands differently and way funnier than it has any right to. Each episode runs about three minutes, so it's the kind of thing you throw on between longer shows or when you just need something light. The vibe is pure whimsical comedy: no deep themes, no hidden darkness, just well-known stories getting the feline treatment with a charming animation style from Studio Comet. Based on a 4-koma manga, the humor is snappy and doesn't overstay its welcome. If you liked the cozy anthropomorphic energy of Magical Meow Meow Taruto or the oddball creature charm of Spirits & Cat Ears, this fits right into that lane. Cat people will get a lot out of it, but really anyone who wants a low-commitment palate cleanser between heavier watches should give it a look.
This season covers Chapters 1-100 of the manga. Continue reading from Chapter 1.

malon★★★★☆EP 44Yoshino Aoyama using her native Kumamoto dialect for Kijitora was so cute, especially when asking for the dumpling. Knowing there are only seven episodes left until the series ends makes every little short feel so precious now. This version of Momotaro is just a guy walking his cats on a weekend stroll and it heals my soul
larxene★★★★☆EP 44I died listening to Hiro Shimono switch between his serious narrator voice and his silly cat voice for Momotaro in the same breath
