Synopsis
To help his grandparents shovel snow at their old boarding house, Yuuki moves to a snow-buried hot springs town called Yomase-machi. That's genuinely the setup — shoveling snow — and yet it works as a framing device for something much warmer. His grandfather nudges him to find romance while he's young, and the town obliges by introducing him to a few memorable women: Sayuki, a shrine maiden who freezes up around strangers; Mizuki, a housemate with a teasing, hard-to-read personality; and Koharu, the bubbly face of the local café. Each of them gets their own route in this four-episode OVA adapted from a visual novel, so you're essentially getting a condensed version of multiple playthroughs compressed into one viewing experience. The snowy setting does a lot of heavy lifting here — it genuinely makes everything feel cozy and isolated in a way that suits the slow romantic pacing. If you liked the quiet, melancholy winter atmosphere of White Album or the rural romance of Yosuga no Sora, this scratches a similar itch, though Amakano leans warmer and softer in tone. It is hentai, so go in knowing that, but the character writing in the early episodes has enough personality that the relationships feel grounded rather than purely mechanical. Short commitment, four episodes, pleasant characters, and a setting that makes you want hot tea and a blanket.
