Bleach Thousand Year Blood War: Why Yhwach's The Almighty Broke the Lore

Is The Almighty Bleach's most broken ability ever? Discover how Yhwach's ultimate power shattered Thousand-Year Blood War lore and forced an impossible conclusion.
Ever since the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime series officially aired its first episode on October 11, 2022, a terrifying and invincible villain, Yhwach, was introduced. Although the Bleach series has featured many different kinds of enemies, all of them strong and powerful, including Aizen Sousuke, Yhwach is just on another level.
In Part 1, Yhwach had already shown us his bottomless power, but since the fight between him and Yamamoto Shigekuni just ended so easily, we didn't really have the chance to look at his true power. However, after entering Part 2, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Separation, we finally have the chance to look at Yhwach's true power.

The first and strongest Holy Letter: Yhwach and The Almighty
Once we start following the revenge journey of the Quincy, we know that when a Quincy gets promoted to the ranks of Sternritter, he or she will undergo a ceremony called the Engraving Ritual (刻印の儀式), which involves the Quincy drinking a cup of Yhwach's blood, allowing Yhwach to carve an initial of the power he wishes to bestow directly into the select individual's soul.
In addition, the granted power returns to Yhwach when the Sternritter dies. It may sound hard to understand just from words, but basically it just means that Yhwach can give every Quincy his power, and is always able to become stronger when he gathers back the power, quite similar to All For One from Boku no Hero Academia.
After the Engraving Ritual, a Quincy will get a schrift, also called a Holy Letter, which is an alphabetic letter named for their abilities. For example, Jugram Haschwalth had The Balance, and Bambietta Basterbine had The Explode, while their king had the first and strongest Holy Letter, The Almighty (全知全能).
Since Yhwach is the king of the Quincy, and he is aiming to conquer everything, he deserves the ability of The Almighty. It is definitely the strongest ability, but this is also the one ability that has broken the balance of Bleach, and has even led the story to a point where no one can really do anything against it.

The strongest yet broken ability: The Almighty and the paradox of Shounen works
After the fight between Yhwach and Hyōsube Ichibeì, we get to understand how terrifying The Almighty is. The Almighty allows Yhwach to browse and read through every possible future, which then enables Yhwach to destroy that particular future first. Even though Hyōsube had a powerful ability, since Yhwach had destroyed Hyōsube's future, he just got killed easily.
In Thousand Year Blood War Part 4, The Calamity, although our Ichigo had obtained a new form that was supposed to be able to do some damage to Yhwach, Yhwach had destroyed the future first, so Ichigo's blade ended up getting broken, and couldn't do anything more from there. Yhwach really delivered despair to us, but this had also led to a famous paradox of Shounen works.
In the long history of Shounen works, techniques or abilities that are related to the future, or to time, are actually not that unusual, since they are an effective way to show how strong the opponent is, and how powerless and despairing our main characters had become. For example, we have The World from the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, or Observation Haki from One Piece, both of which are invincible, and have led us to the question of how the main characters could beat them.

No matter how we think about it, techniques or abilities that are related to the future, or to time, are truly the strongest, since we really don't have any method to deal with them, which usually leads to an awkward situation where even the author can't really come up with an idea of how to end the fights beautifully. For example, the fights between Jotaro Kujo and Dio are amazing, but using The World to fight against The World just feels so weird, as Jotaro didn't even awaken the ability once through the journey.
The same goes for the fight between Luffy and Charlotte Katakuri. While logically everyone had the potential to unlock the highest level of Observation Haki, this was the first time Luffy had truly contacted it, and he somehow managed to learn it and even surpass Katakuri. We can understand that Luffy had the potential, but just like Jotaro, when they succeeded in such a short time, it just feels so insane.
When a villain or an antagonist has such an overwhelming power, it is a hard thing for the author to end the fight, or the story, beautifully. Even from the author's perspective, they can't really give any good solutions, since time-related techniques or abilities are just so broken no matter how you look at it.

Open OshiTrack →Yhwach and The Almighty: What Is the Counterattack Against Them?
No matter how broken the villain or an antagonist is, eventually there will be some counterattacks against them, otherwise the fights won't end. The author of Bleach, Kubo Tite, had also prepared some counterattacks against Yhwach, although I do think the anime team had done a great job, the scenes are almost perfect, I do still think it is unconvincing at the same time.
Yhwach's The Almighty is definitely the strongest and the most broken ability in Bleach, but there is still a weakness to it. Actually, there is a limit to the futures Yhwach is able to read at one time. Yhwach didn't really read everyone's future; he just focused on the opponent in front of him, which is why Ukitake Jushirō was able to finish his job, and Yhwach didn't know what was actually going on.
This may not seem like a weakness, but actually this is where the characters are able to find some room to fight against The Almighty. Just like Ukitake had found some room to fulfil his last job, one of the important characters, Ishida Uryu, had also found a unique way to fight back.
Yhwach can't really look into many futures at one time, so in order to counterattack it, we need to prepare as many futures as possible. What am I talking about? This actually means that the main characters need to have as many Nakamas as they can, and this is what Shounen main characters are experts in. Ichigo had the ability to attract people, and even though he had lost to Yhwach, all the connections he built before would be able to bring him to a future that Yhwach couldn't even predict.
Conclusion:
Thank you for reading this post. With The Almighty, Yhwach is definitely the most terrifying and strongest character in Bleach. There aren't many plans left for Ichigo and his team, but he isn't invincible, and Ichigo does still have the potential to beat him.
The Almighty had brought Yhwach to a very high level, and had given the biggest despair to both Soul Society and Ichigo, but to be honest, I really think it is too broken. Although without broken powers characters can't really be outstanding in Shounen works, this had also led to a situation where even the characters can't deal with it.
