His former party must have been terrible to him if he is this willing to switch sides and join the enemy. Seeing Leo go against humanity is such a huge shift from how he treated his party in the past

Leo walking up to the demon queen to ask for a job after destroying her whole army was such a weird move. My thoughts kept going back to her reaction because she looked so confused and suspicious of him

The way Leo just shut down Edvard with magic and then countered Melnes was such a show of force. He is so much stronger than the average hero and it is funny watching the demons realize they stand no chance

I think that stone the queen had was so sketchy and seeing those people in vats makes me wonder what the demons are actually planning because this show is darker than the intro makes it look

I really liked the psychological aspect of her not being able to tell reality from the dreams anymore, especially when she realized the source of the curse was already inside her house

Leo joined the demon army after beating them and he is just way too strong for everyone else. The way he handled Edvard and Melnes without breaking a sweat makes it seem like he is not even human

The whole idea of a hero being too powerful to lose in real life but completely defenseless in her own mind is a cool twist and the way she gets more worn down every night looked so good and I thought the colors changed so much between the bright heroic world and the gritty nightmare realm where everything started falling apart for her

The final shot where she realizes she can no longer resist the dreams is chilling and it makes you wonder how much longer she can even pretend to be a hero

Trying to stay awake was the only thing that kept the interest up because the voice acting for the demons sounded a bit generic compared to her reactions

The animation during the nightmare sequence was surprisingly fluid, and watching her arrogance crumble while she was sleeping really made the whole situation feel way more desperate

A world saving hero becoming terrified of falling asleep is such a brutal concept and those demon designs looked genuinely gross
glenn_radars's avatar

It felt like the show skipped over her fighting the actual remnants of the army just to get to the dream stuff and that made the pacing feel rushed
mikasa_ackerman's avatar

Having her sanity slip because the dreams feel so real is a dark touch for a show like this and the corruption feels earned because of her arrogance
menomaru's avatar

That transition to the dream sequences felt a bit sudden and the hero acting like an arrogant jerk made it hard to care when things went south

Her acting all smug in the daytime before getting absolutely wrecked in her sleep was a great way to start this for me and the demon designs are creepy

Humanity really treats their heroes like garbage and seeing Leo just give up on them to join the enemy made so much sense after that betrayal

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the series premiere, this episode has no prior events to build from — it drops viewers directly into the heroine's post-demon-king world and uses that vacuum of purpose as its central tension. It establishes the psychological framework the rest of the series will operate within, particularly the emerging dream sequences that hint at deeper, unresolved conflicts. Everything introduced here — the stagnation, the vulnerability, the blurred subconscious — appears positioned to fracture further as the narrative progresses.
