This episode was so interesting. We finally get to see the abilities of the third years. The positions they are riding are similar to the main three characters that we've seen so far. However, their techniques and their abilities are a lot more different because of experience and age, which is so nice to see and feel the actual difference even. Makishima is my favourite 3rd year! Tsundere for the win!
Makishima instantly became one of the most interesting characters for me. His unique personality makes every conversation memorable, and the advice he gives feels meaningful beyond cycling itself. I also enjoyed how this episode slowed things down a little to focus on growth instead of nonstop competition. A refreshing change of pace.
I hate Sugimoto's overconfidence, he's getting on my nerves. Didn't he know what happened in the race? Shunsuke and Shoukichi have the same script. It's too funny. The race with others seems to be boring, and they're not focused on it. Instead, they focus on Sakamichi's more interesting race. I like how Sakamichi is enjoying it. But he is so clumsy, which makes it funny.
