Helping the duck was a nice gesture because Masane dislikes loneliness.
It’s been a long time since I first watched Witchblade, so revisiting Episode 1 gave me a different impression. Initially, what really stood out to me was the cool action and Masane’s transformation however, upon rewatching it, the core of the story is the relationship between Masane Amaha and Rihoko made a much stronger impact on me.
Very strong beginning. The place and the characters are introduced well and they seem pretty likeable. The conflict and sides are also already established so you can gleam what the rest of the series will probably be about. The witchblade transformation is unfortunately too fanservice-y for the tone but if you don't mind it then it shouldn't be an issue.
