Kabeya is among my favorite dancers in the manga, and the way this episode portrayed him is totally up my alley. It's also fun seeing Wanda and Kotani interact with other dancers, too.

Episode Context

Wandance shifts gears into battle mode. Episode 9 cracks open the competitive side of street dance culture, throwing Kabo into an environment where style isn't just expression, it's a weapon. The energy here is electric, built around the intensity of dance battles and the raw thrill of watching someone discover a new dimension of something they already love. Kabo's lunch break training sessions with Iori carry a mentor-student warmth, but the real spark comes from the introduction of Gaku 'Kabe' Kabeya, a breakdancer whose presence immediately raises the bar. Expect a fast-paced, adrenaline-forward episode that leans heavily into rivalry and self-discovery. The animation work from Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics carries extra weight here, translating competitive tension into kinetic visual storytelling. This is the episode where the world of Wandance gets significantly bigger.
