The chaos in the opening scene and the calm that followed after time skip makes you want to know what happened. I love the exploration of the unknown theme with historic fantasy vibe. Animation is amazing, can't wait to explore more of this story.

A cold, deliberate prologue: sparse dialogue, heavy atmosphere, and tactical framing establish conflict psychology over action, grounding its violence in consequence, not spectacle.

This is one of the most underrated anime! The first scene with golden visuals and that sudden drop of bloodshed will make you gasped. Wit did it again and have the atmosphere of AoT from the visuals and the music - turns then into Vikings mode. Overall, a captivating start!

The introduction of chaotic, I love it. Great cinematic scene, blending vicious war with slow/quiet icelandic life. It was kind of slow but that helps in building tension. World-building was immersive into the lore of Viking Era.

A warrior who chose peace. A boy who dreams of war. The contrast is set up effortlessly and the world feels lived-in immediately. Vinland spoken of like a dream already tells you where this story is really going.

Vinland definitely shows promise. It has a sweeping scenic art style, reminiscent of Attack on Titan. The characters are a little bland and the dubbing could be better, but that likely improves as the series goes on. Worth continuing for sure.

delivers breathtaking, gritty animation with cinematic battle choreography and grounded Viking realism. Its slow-burn pacing builds emotional weight, crafting a powerful revenge-driven story that evolves into a profound exploration of war, honor, and purpose.

Thors Snorresson, a former Viking warrior who chose to live peacefully with his family. That peace began to crack when an escaped slave appeared, reopening the shadows of his past and confirming that true strength is not about war, but humanity.

In the Amidst of war, Thors chose to end it his way. Leaving the past behind by choosing peace in 15 years, but trouble always seems to find Thors.
On point animation, From element to element. Great characters and a Great start for adventure.
A must watch⚔️

In the Viking era, instead of glorifying violence, the story focuses on Thors as an honorable, restrained warrior carrying the weight of his past. I like how it explores war and honor through quiet moments, showing this story questions war, not celebrates it.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first of twenty-four episodes, 'Somewhere Not Here' is pure foundation—introducing Thorfinn, his father Thors, and the philosophical core that will fuel the entire season's trajectory. The tranquil village life and Thors' pacifist ideals established here are critical context for the disruptions and escalating conflicts that begin in the next episode, 'Sword.' Everything seeded in this premiere—the allure of distant lands, a warrior's buried past, a boy's restless spirit—becomes the driving engine for what follows.
