It's a chapter that gives us context about the history of Yuki, Kaname, and Zero, and how they relate to each other. A bit of a tedious chapter, but one that helps us better understand Yuki's feelings and confusion, as well as Kaname's feelings for her. It might help us understand Kaname's point of view more and the reason behind his coldness nowadays.

The backstory of the trio—Yuki, Zero, and Kaname—is so sweet yet absolutely heartbreaking at the same time. (And can we talk about how Kaname has been adorable since he was a kid?) Even though the plot of this episode was simple, it was somehow so captivating that it could almost stand alone. Atmosphere itself was already a solid 100/100.

This episode does a great job of portraying Yuuki's psychological development since childhood; it's actually quite interesting to remember how lively she was in the early episodes. If people find her annoying, it's because they didn't understand her as a character.
