Thinking back on the anime from my teenage years, the story is really good and gives us a great taste of what’s to come. The turbulent pasts of all the characters—especially Zero’s—leave you wanting to know more.

Rewatching this and the vibes are still 10/10. 🥀 Gothic Lolita aesthetic + that iconic haunting soundtrack = perfection. Action is a bit stiff, but I’m here for the drama and the setting anyway. Still fascinates me even years later.

This first episode suffers from a common anime syndrome: "Too much information thrown in your face." The characters have unnatural dialogue to explain to the audience who they are and their relationships with each other. But the underlying story is still interesting.
