Episode 3 delivers a stellar payoff to the opening arc as Raishin proves his tactical brilliance during the intense showdown. Yaya really shines here with her fierce loyalty and explosive combat skills when the stakes peak. The fluid automation battles look incredibly sharp, making the emotional bond between puppets and masters feel completely genuine
This episode marks the appearance of Shouko, Yaya's creator and along with her appearance is Raishin's backstory. She also reveals something about him that ties into the target of both of their revenge. Raishin's character is further explored in this episode particularly through the way he views automatons. My gut feeling about the identity of the Cannibal Candy turned out to be correct early on in the episode but the identity of the automaton partner was quite unexpected. The animation choice at the end was fantastic, it added a great deal of dramatic impact to that particular scene.
Yo, can we talk about how Raishin just dissed Eris, Kazuma, and Megumin all in one fell swoop. To be honest Yaya seems to be the archetype for megumin (no wonder he gives her a hard time) she's just as flat as her, or at least in her get up, her size seems to change in different perspectives. It went how I expected it would, I wished that it hadn't though I wish it was either a malfunction, or some random bloke during committing the crimes. I don't get what Yaya was doing in the beginning, nor do I understand the reaction of Raishin. Quite the mystery those two are.
