This episode has a chilling heart ache to it! The conflict and tension grows steadily and we get different sides to Hanako and Kou. It is nice to see and the story telling is done beautifully.

Positioned at the two-thirds mark of the season, Episode 8 transitions away from the breezier standalone tone of Episode 7's 'Donuts' and steers the narrative into more emotionally demanding territory. It deepens the show's thematic core around human-supernatural bonds while giving Kou meaningful development outside of Hanako's orbit. This episode directly sets the table for Episode 9's 'Tea Party,' continuing to escalate both the emotional stakes and the supernatural intrigue heading into the final stretch.
