Judging by the opening and certain scenes in this episode alone, it certainly looks like this anime is gonna pass up on ANY chance for fan service, which is no surprise since it mainly belongs to the Harem + Ecchi genre. Pretty decent first episode besides that, it's decently paced for a rom-com + sci-fi. The voice acting is pretty natural, and the animation and art style are pretty comfortable. The humour definitely landed for me, which was great. Pretty predictable plot though.
Nice start. The introduction and world-building are great, providing a good picture of how the series will be. Overall — fan service, comedy: 9/10.
Anime in 2008 was wild man, can't imagine what the blu-ray version looked like lmao. Jokes aside, while I'm not a stranger to romcom/ecchi anime, To-Love Ru is up there among the OG of the genre and honestly? I can see why considering the level of animation they achieved in this era was crazy even if they did use it to animate dem jiggles! I would say episode one is full of cliché, but considering the airing year, To Love-Ru IS the origin of said cliché for future animes.
