EPISODE REVIEWS

The featured unit in this episode has our obligatory highschooler idols 😅 Their personalities and behavior are pretty run-of-the-mill tbh, but it’s executed well enough that I can’t really complain much lol. Very comfy and wholesome episode where you basically know what to expect 🥰

High x Joker's debut episode and the energy shift is immediate. these are high school students who formed a band and the youthful chaotic enthusiasm they bring to everything is a welcome injection of noise after the quieter register of the W episode. their promotional video shoot is comedy gold — five teenagers with strong personalities, limited experience, and maximum confidence trying to put something together is exactly as messy and charming as it sounds. the episode also does something quietly important by asking each member why they chose this path, and the answers reveal more depth than the surface energy suggests. Hayato in particular has a more complex motivation than you'd expect. High x Joker is the unit that feels most like a classic idol anime group and this episode plays to that strength without feeling generic about it.

The new characters and other member of the band gradually becoming known and taking in order, it is important for the band like this to have their various talents so that it will place in order as soon as possible.
