Fubuki is OP and a perfect combination of brains and brawn plus a little quirkiness with food being his lifeline. Yorishige hugging Tokiyuki is so wholesome, I'm gonna cry. I love them.

The fight scene here was spectacular and very artistic. I expected Tokiyuki’s technique to be something flashy like a secret sword move, but it turned out to be more subtle. It actually fits the story well, and I’m excited to see how he uses it in future battles.

While in previous episodes it is established that Fubuki will teach Tokiyuki about swordmanships, here is where you get to see how it impacted our MC's fighting style which is combining that swod skill with his amazing agility. Solid episode!

This episode was a total emotional rollercoaster. The villain is absolutely terrifying. The pacing was a bit slow in the middle during the philosophical talk, but the climax with Tokiyuki's resolve was top-tier.

This is where all the pudget that was saved by using so much CGI the previous episode. The fights are immaculate with great lighting and camerawork. I always like how the blood are colored in this series, so vivid. The battles reflects the characters, which is great too!

Tokiyuki’s confidence continues to grow. His ability to evade enemies turns into a unique fighting style.

Key episode: Tokiyuki 's growth shines in a duel fueled by a remix blending traditional Japanese sounds with Michael Jackson's cult "Thriller" instrumental. This blend tracks his agility perfectly. Great shônen balance: violence is suggested, never gore. A visual masterpiece.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the tactical cat-and-mouse conflict of Episode 8's 'A War of Hide and Seek,' Episode 9 escalates dramatically by pitting Tokiyuki's group directly against the Seigi Party's leadership — shifting from evasion to confrontation. Positioned at the three-quarter mark of this 12-episode season, 'My Buddha' serves as a critical pivot point where the accumulated character development and alliances are tested under real pressure. It directly sets the stage for Episode 10's 'A Perverted Kid and Disturbances of Holy Power,' pushing the narrative toward its endgame stretch.
