A lot of characters are shown to have a trait that makes them stand out from the rest. First, it was Tokiyuki, then Sadamune, and now this guy with super hearing.

The 3D animation is mixed seamlessly in with the 2D, usually it sticks out like a sore thumb but it works great here with the horses. Yorishige’s tactics are next level, he’s playing chess while everyone is playing checkers.

Another character gets introduced and we’re starting to see Tokiyuki’s team slowly come together. I like how most of them are just kids going up against dangerous adults out there trying to hunt them down. It really makes the stakes feel more intense.

First of all, great soundtrack especially the part where they explain "The Parthian Shot". I love the Dragon Quest refrences thrown here out of nowhere! From the visual side, unlike some people who said the horse visual are quite jarring, i find it pleasing to the eye.

This episode This episode was a wild mix of "Wait, what?" and "Wow."was a wild mix of "Wait, what?" and "Wow." I was actually cringing a bit during the match, but man, Tokiyuki’s glimmer when he’s in danger is so cool.

We first the to close the archery match, a not-so neat bow on top, as Sadamune kept coming back despite losing. This bleed to the next part where we're introduced to Kazama Genba. The thief seemed to be foreshadowed to be a new retainer of Tokiyuki, but we have to wait for it.

Tokiyuki faces his first real battle since going into hiding. His ability to escape danger proves just as valuable as fighting.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the season's midpoint, episode 5 escalates the rivalry with Sadamune that was established in episode 4, turning their conflict into a direct, structured competition. This confrontation serves as a pivotal character-defining moment for Tokiyuki, stress-testing his evasive talents under new pressure. The outcome and fallout from this showdown set the trajectory for the season's back half, shaping alliances and rivalries moving forward.
