The Cat and the Dragon Episode 1: The Cat and the Dragon

IT WAS SOOOO FREAKING AWESOME THAT I HAD TO DOWNLOAD THIS APP BECAUSE THIS ANIME (I watch the anime on YouTube and it only has two episodes...😔)

When you think about it, the story in this episode looks like it was in a one-shot manga. I'm rather stump how the story will proceed in the next episode since this story provides a good ending. Maybe it will be like Frieren that gives a story on what happened afterwards 🤔.  I don't see any inconsistencies with the animation or art and it felt really relaxing watching this anime.

The narrative is very ambitious, especially the last scenes tbh but it’s what you’d expect from a fantasy story. Fantastic pacing for a first episode!

Love the voice acting of mama cat, it really set the tone right after that shocking event before our MC was even born 🥹🥺 and it made what happened next so much sadder

It was more brutal than I was expecting. I thought it was going to be a cozy, feel-good anime, but instead we got a few surprisingly violent scenes. I actually liked that contrast.
I also enjoyed the pacing. Rather than focusing on a single cast of characters, the first episode jumps from generation to generation, telling the history of the world instead. We get to see civilization grow and change around the dragon, which I thought was a really interesting approach.
My only real issue is that the animation could be better at times. That said, I do like the overall art style, so it didn't take away too much from the experience.

This chapter brought me peace. I love that it combines things I enjoy: cats, dragons, and fantasy in general. Although it was a bit cruel what they did to the mother dragon and the other cats :( I wonder who summoned the mother cat; I hope it was someone kind.

That opening scene with the hunters killing the mother dragon was way more brutal than the summary let on and it set a heavy tone right away

It was so funny watching Uncle Wings try to pounce on mice because he really thinks he is just a big kitten and my heart melted when he puffed out smoke

You go in expecting cute dragon cats but then the show hits you with those hunters and the piles of cats and it was actually pretty dark

seeing the cat teach prince al magic by feeling the energy in nature really got to me because the boy was struggling so much with the normal lessons

the way Uncle Wings tried to pounce on mice and then puffed out that tiny bit of smoke was the cutest thing in the world

i actually teared up when the cat mama started grooming that tiny wet dragonet and took him in as one of her own kittens even though he was a giant lizard

The scene with the pile of skinned cats was way darker than the title made it look, and seeing that dragon just torch the entire hunter camp felt totally justified.

the part where the dragon transformed into a little red cat with wings just so he could talk to the king was so cool because he looked like a kitten
