They introduced Pompora and killed him in the same episode and somehow I'm not even mad. That golden foxtail afterlife reveal got me tearing up at 2am. The fruit thief scene with the King was so fun too. This show just knows how to make every goodbye count.

The levitation magic origin story got me. He learned it not to fight monsters but to carry his kittens safely away from bears. Every epic thing he ever did traced back to being a parent. Then his mate whispering that she had so much fun being with him sealed it. I'm a wreck

The King recognizing him as the fruit-thief cat and throwing a banquet instead of punishing him was such a lovely beat. Shows how far both of them came. And Pompora declining the city lodging so he could go check his pompora fruits was the most deeply in-character thing ever

I wasn't ready for his mate's spirit. The moonlit walk with the grapes he thought he'd hidden — her teasing him about the scent breaking through his stealth magic — then her form turning into that green light drifting into the lake. That whole sequence was silent and devastating in the best way

I knew the title was a death flag from the start. Anyone with eyes could see it coming. But watching him rediscover his first foxtail field and that clumsy magic burst as a young cat was so warm I forgot to brace myself. Then the golden field reunion flattened me anyway

That post-credits pompora tree got me worse than the actual death scene. Sweet fruit and sour fruit growing where he rests? That sour one is just Pompora pranking the grandkids from the afterlife. He never really left us

Calling it now — the sour fruit theory is right. Pompora spent his whole life mastering magic and ended it planting a tree that still makes the kids wince. That's the mischievous old man we just watched get scolded by an angry cat in a flashback. Perfect ending to a perfect sendoff

People on Reddit are calling it the 'Day Drinking Uncles' segment and that's exactly right. Two disaster-class demons completely incapacitated by a plant while city guards panic. The comedy landed perfectly and then the gift scene somehow made me emotional anyway

Uncle Wings navigating a human town for his mom felt like real character growth even if he's still grumpy about humans. The moment they showed up with the floating raspberry baskets I got a little misty. Also the 'End's Resting Place' epilogue hit harder than expected

The two most feared beings on the continent got tipsy off silvervine then tripped through a human town asking about flowers. I'm not sure the show will ever top that visual. The balance between goofy and heartfelt keeps getting better

The Greater Demon calling auntie gossip 'high-speed incantations' might be the best line this series has ever produced. A literal demon lord is more scared of middle-aged women's lunch chatter than any human army. Absolute perfection

I could not stop grinning when the royal cats scolded those demon brothers like they were misbehaving house pets. The king watching from the window completely baffled is comedy gold. Also Mamanyan immediately pivoting to lecturing them about being single is so painfully relatable

So that's why the title is The Cat and The Dragon. The mother cat is very much still a part of the story. The world building is really interesting, It feels like a very idealistic step by step development of the world. Look forward to the reunion of mothercat with the dragon!

This chapter brought me peace. I love that it combines things I enjoy: cats, dragons, and fantasy in general. Although it was a bit cruel what they did to the mother dragon and the other cats :( I wonder who summoned the mother cat; I hope it was someone kind.

Stay for the credits. That shot of him lying next to Gekkou's spot with zero music playing completely broke me. I was fine through the whole goodbye scene and then that silent gut punch took me out. Whoever decided to cut the audio there deserves an award

I've been saying this show used Pompora as its emotional anchor for the last few episodes but this one proved it. His farewell to the kittens and that quiet bow from the dragon before touching his fur felt like watching an era end. Only one episode left and I'm already dreading it

The way the fruit-thief backstory reframed everything was genius. He got his start sneaking grapes as a hot-headed kid in the capital and ended as the greatest magic master in history. But the moment his wife's spirit rose toward the moon and vanished into the lake broke me completely.

Mamanyan licking the cheeks of two world-ending monsters and them blushing like kittens was the sweetest thing all season. Then the hunting lesson pivot and the grandchildren pressure? Classic. My own mom would do the exact same thing
