EPISODE REVIEWS

Nothing really interesting happened, just MaoMao solving another case, but one that’s not really interesting. It seems like they’re pushing to show that MaoMao is just a smart detective at this point, nothing related to do with being an apothecary, which is disappointing. 7.5/10

Episode Context

Sitting at the two-thirds mark of the 24-episode season, Episode 16 pivots away from the palace-centric tensions of Episode 15's 'Raw Fish' and moves Maomao into an external investigation, broadening the show's scope beyond court politics. This transition episode functions as a bridge, showcasing Maomao's capabilities in a civilian context while setting the groundwork for the escalating complexities and deeper investigations that define the season's final third.
