Went from teaching the ladies to do the deed, to finding an accidental arson. Weird but fun story, not cohesive but still entertaining. Though it’s not really the best, wish I could’ve seen more interaction with the ladies and not just noises and reactions.

8/10

After failing the court exam, Maomao is left as a personal servant for Jinshi, a situation that may be even preferable for her. And some of her first orders comes as a request from both Lady Gyoukuyo and Lady Lihua. Meanwhile a new mystery occurs, this time in the Outer Palace.

Detective Mao is back in action! I think the conflict will get more intense from now on, cause I'm very suspicious of the guy wearing a monocle.

The study session scene was a great inclusion to see the new consort and the change ain dynamics around the Rear Palace. I love the realism of the anime on the different crimes that happens especially the dust explosion with detailed explanation to help us understand the concept.

A calmer episode that focuses more on relationships. Maomao and Jinshi’s contrast stands out again. It’s not very intense, but it adds quiet depth to the story.

Maomao continues to impress by deducing so many mysteries around the palace. She really is one of the most likable protagonists I've encountered in an anime. Also, some of the visuals, like the color contrast at the beginning of the episode, were so beautiful.

This episode feels a bit quieter, but in a very intentional way. I really love how the story gives space for observation rather than constant action. Maomao once again proves how sharp she is, especially in the way she notices something slightly “off” that others overlook. The moment where she pauses and re-examines a small detail instead of jumping to conclusions really stands out—it’s such a Maomao thing to do. It’s not dramatic, but it shows exactly why she’s so reliable. Episodes like this remind me that the series shines in its subtlety.

The new consort is indeed hard to read. Maomao really does well when it comes to her field either medicine or courtesan things. And why was the sneaky minister from previous episode present again? Hmmm
Maomao should really be a detective too. Haha

Maomao gets assigned as a concubine trainer and the subject matter is not what anyone expected hahahaha. only she could make that situation completely unbothered. the warehouse explosion at the end is a nice setup and Lakan lurking in the background is giving off major sus

Ep 14 is a chaotic.Maomao giving "special lessons" to the consorts is peak comedy! But in the second half, I impressed by Maomao's analytical thinking about mysterious fire in warehouse which she explains as dust explosion. Seeing military officer solving it alongside her (separately) builds such high-key tension. The mystery is about to unfold!!

New characters means new mystery always but seeing mamao solve the pufferfish poisoning mystery so casually was peak.

A new character always means a new mystery, a new story spice, and a new chaos! The calmer the weather, the more you have to prepare for the storm. Quick question, though: why don't they give Maomao a raise for teaching valuable lessons to all the high-ranking consorts?

When the new concubines arrive, a highly skilled new girl begins learning from Teacher Maomao. However, there is one person whose expression cannot be read. After the sudden incident occurs, it marks the beginning of the mystery of who caused it. Want to keep watching it!!!!

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 13's pivotal shift of Maomao into Outer Court service, this episode expands her sphere of influence and deepens the political landscape at the season's midpoint. Lady Loulan's introduction plants seeds for escalating court tensions that will define the second half of the 24-episode run. With Maomao now navigating responsibilities beyond her comfort zone, the stage is set for new mysteries and alliances to emerge.
