It didn’t really capture my interest, but it wasn’t bad either. The story is still good it just didn’t meet my expectations, especially compared to the tense mystery of the previous episodes. But maybe the next episode will be better.

Pulling back from the serious overtones from the previous episode, we now have our heroine, and her friends, in a tight, diplomatic pickle that warrants an unconventional solution. We get some intersting reveals, and something to pique interest in the next part of this story.

Another mystery, detective episode. Interesting but this type of stuff, specially similar themes like these bore me. To be honest, the episode is not catching my attention. What makes the episode or anime lively is the comedy vibes on it. So for that, I can say this episode's mid

This episode ramps up intrigue with a more layered case. The visual details, especially in the palace interiors, stand out more and the pacing feels more deliberate.

This one got big brain moments. Maomao and Gaoshun teamwork is nice! The visuals and setup feel fancy too. I like how it mixes small case with bigger plot. Still can't believe mystery behind Moon Goddess 😅

Another episode, another mystery! But definitely need to appreciate Maomao for solving such a complicated case. But I felt pacing was slow(may be I didn't understood the science behind the mystery). That realization about Jinshi’s beauty was hilarious😂

The case of the sister who look alike are tackled in a very fast pace. But still our Maomao was able to solve it. It's shocking that the old lady of Verdigris House used to be a very beautiful lady. The way Maomao and Gaoshun had that tacit understanding was hilarious.

When Maomao revealed the dancer's "stardust" was just crushed insects, my jaw seriously dropped; it was such a simple yet brilliant trick! It totally made me wonder how many other grand illusions in this world are just clever, everyday solutions she'd quickly unravel.

The quiet act of those pregnant sisters with their mirrors in that isolated annex really got to me; it made me wonder if they even cared about the risks anymore, just wanting a glimpse of something familiar, some small comfort to hold onto. I couldn't help but feel a deep sadness for their forced solitude and what it must have done to them.

My jaw totally dropped when I saw that old painting, realizing the Madam was the legendary Moon Spirit from the pleasure district. It makes me think she’s been carrying the weight of that past fame all this time, which would explain her quiet, almost distant way of being now.

Maomao's absolute delight at Jinshi having to dress up and dance for the trade mission was just everything, I swear. I mean, poor guy, but her smirk really sealed the deal for me; she truly lives for those moments where he’s completely flustered, doesn't she?

I was kinda laughing when Maomao suggested Jinshi for the Moon Spirit role; honestly, who else could pull off that kind of beauty, right? The crushed insects making the old madam sparkle was such a classic Maomao insight, showing me she's always looking for the practical explanation behind all the court's dramatics.

The foreign envoys asking for a 50-year-old legend felt so unbelievably cheeky, and I can't help but wonder if they're deliberately trying to cause trouble for the court. I'm already eager to see how Maomao’s sharp mind will untangle this ridiculous request they’ve dumped on everyone, it feels like just the kind of puzzle she excels at.

Seriously, I was racking my brain trying to figure out how those sisters managed to fake being in two places at once, and the mirror trick was just so elegant. Maomao, being Maomao, just instantly saw through it all, which honestly just makes me think she's always three steps ahead of everyone else.

That grumpy old Madam, the Moon Spirit all along? I literally gasped when it clicked, thinking about how many times she subtly played up her mystique right under my nose. Seeing the "pearl tears" turn out to be nothing but sweat and clever lighting made me actually laugh out loud, wondering how I ever bought into the dramatics.

I couldn't stop laughing at how absolutely obsessed Maomao got over the bear bile, it's so typical of her to care more about bizarre ingredients than palace politics. Honestly, it just makes me think about how much she'd rather be experimenting in her lab than dealing with all the drama, which I totally get.

I seriously wasn't expecting Maomao to just straight-up tell Jinshi he's the one who needs to dress up and dance for those foreigners to save the trade mission. It was such a perfect, practical Maomao solution, and I just know he was internally panicking, which made me grin.

It was genuinely fascinating to hear the Madam talk about her past as the Moon Spirit, and the reveal that the "pearl tears" were just sweat in the moonlight really clicked for me; it just shows how Maomao isn't the only one with such a sharp, dissecting mind. I'm actually a little nervous, but also excited, to see Jinshi perform at the banquet – I hope he manages to pull it off.

Poor Jinshi, looking completely swamped with all that paperwork, made me genuinely sympathize. But then finding out he's gotta do this legendary dance in a *dress*? I just cackled, it’s honestly the perfect dose of comedic karma for someone who always tries to keep his cool.

When Granny explained how she used the moon and fire to make her sweat look like pearls, I was genuinely surprised by her cleverness. It totally makes me think Maomao got her sharp mind from her grandma, which is pretty cool.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Picking up after 'Corpse Fungus,' where Maomao unraveled a death tied to a poisonous fungus, 'Mirror' deepens the season's exploration of hidden motives and palace machinations at the early quarter mark. This episode bridges the investigative groundwork of the opening episodes with the broader narrative scope ahead, directly setting the stage for 'The Moon Fairy' and its introduction of foreign envoys seeking a legendary figure. At episode 4 of 24, it's establishing the thematic and political foundations that will likely pay off across the season's larger arcs.
