Seeing Maomao shopping with Xiaolan is refreshing, but her sharp eye never rests, as protecting Gyokkou's secret and suspecting that someone might already know it keeps her on guard. Shisui's appearance adds intrigue without being excessive.

Just as I expected, the mystery vibe is finally back after the calm pacing of the previous episode. As always, she’s incredibly observant she immediately notices anything strange before things get worse. It’s also really nice to see the FL finally make a friend who shares her interests. The story is so catchy and never gets boring!

As expected, it didn't take long for this show to return to its signature tone that made it felt like it was a crime drama. But this is exactly what made this anime quite popular; the grounded level of mysteries and conspiracies galore. Do look out for a twist next time though.

For me, pacing is kind of mid. Maomao doing that is really funny and you'll find out why! Keep on watching!. Episode is mid for me, slow but entertaining!

This episode leans into palace routines, but the small details—like Maomao noticing inconsistencies in food prep—make it engaging. The slower pace works because the tension builds quietly.

This one starts fun but feels kinda sus fast 👀 Maomao and Xiaolan moments are cute tho! I like how Maomao notices tiny things again. Makes the palace feel pretty dangerous ngl.

That reaction from other people from the palace is so cute to watch! However a new mystery is up ahead to our Maomao. Pacing is building up and the animation during first half is soo amazing😍. Shusui is such a interesting character to watch!! 👀

Maomao's friends reacting to the kitten is so Kawaii!
This episode bring up new series of deep conspiracies from within the palace and from outside factors.

The way Maomao was sniffing those clothes and goods like a total weirdo was hilarious and Jinshi just looks at her like she is insane which is the best part of their whole dynamic

I was dying when Maomao bargained with that merchant for the seeds because she is usually so bored with everything else but give her a weird plant and she becomes a total beast

The tension at the palace is so thick with Lady Shin back around Lihua and the whole atmosphere feels heavy even with all the pretty things in the wagons

Watching Maomao geek out over seeds and science stuff was so fun and the blue rose trick was so smart plus Jinshi giving her that hairpiece made me melt

Lihua holding her stomach like that has me so worried for her and with the caravan staying this long and all these weird oils around it feels like something bad is about to happen

Honestly, Jinshi’s toothy grin when he bought those seeds was just so him, it really made me chuckle. And seeing Maomao totally focused on the actual science to get that dye right instead of relying on something fantastical? That's exactly why I love her; she's always got her feet on the ground.

Jinshi giving Maomao that hairpiece under the moonlight felt super significant to me, especially after all that blue rose project stress and the garden party chaos. I mean, he's usually so good at keeping his distance, so seeing him make such a thoughtful, quiet gesture really makes me think he's developing some real feelings for her, which is kinda sweet.

Okay, Lady Lihua's face when she was reading that letter from the clinic totally freaked me out, it was genuinely chilling. I mean, what exactly are they hiding from everyone at court, and why did it hit her so hard? I'm really starting to wonder if there's a much darker secret lurking than we thought.

I totally think Shisui is going to be such a cool addition, and honestly, her being into bugs just instantly made me connect her to Maomao and Xiaolan. I'm already picturing them as the palace's most eccentric and amazing trio, it's gonna be so fun to watch them together!

I honestly couldn't get over Maomao battling that storm for her seedlings; it just blew my mind seeing her, usually so clinical about everything, pour *that much* of herself into something, especially knowing it was for Jinshi. It really made me feel like there's so much more going on between them than she lets on, and him giving her that hairpiece felt like a super significant little reward for her efforts.

I was genuinely impressed by Maomao pulling off that rose trick, using chemistry to dye them from the inside; it just goes to show how far above everyone else she is, especially those charlatans at the market. Honestly, my jaw dropped a little at how she figures this stuff out so quickly.

Lady Loulan stepping out of that carriage right at the end absolutely floored me; I definitely didn't see her coming. Now it's clear this whole political intrigue isn't just about trade goods anymore, it's gotten seriously personal, and I'm really curious how Maomao's going to handle this new layer of danger.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the second episode of twenty-four, 'Caravan' builds on the season premiere's reestablishment of Maomao's role by introducing external threats to the palace's carefully controlled environment. It functions as a critical setup piece, seeding mysteries and complications that will escalate directly into episode three, 'Corpse Fungus,' where Maomao's investigative abilities face a more urgent test. This early stretch of the season is clearly laying groundwork, using outside influences to destabilize the status quo and give Maomao new problems only she can solve.
