Episode Context

As the first episode of a twenty-four-episode season, this premiere prioritizes reestablishing the status quo after season one's resolved intrigues, reaffirming Maomao's position as Gyokuyou's food taster and her relationship with the palace's key players. It functions as a deliberate on-ramp, weaving in subtle threads, particularly around Jinshi's evolving role as palace manager, that signal the direction of upcoming arcs. Expect the early episodes to gradually escalate from this character-driven foundation into the deeper mysteries the season will tackle.
