Synopsis
Constantly outperformed by the girls' club, the boys' soft tennis club faces disbandment due to their poor skills and lack of positive results in matches. In desperate need of members, Touma Shinjou is looking to recruit capable players, but he fails to scout anyone. Enter Maki Katsuragi, a new transfer student who demonstrates great reflexes when he catches a stray cat in his classroom, instantly capturing Touma's attention. With his interest piqued, Touma ambitiously asks Maki to join the boys' team but is quickly rejected, as Maki doesn't wish to join any clubs. Touma refuses to back down and ends up persuading Maki—only under the condition that Touma will pay him for his participation and cover other club expenses. Maki joins the team, and his incredible form and quick learning allow him to immediately outshine the rest of the team. Although this gives rise to conflict among the boys, Maki challenges and pushes his fellow team members to not only keep up with his seemingly natural talent, but also drive them to devote themselves to the game they once neglected. As the members of the boys' soft tennis club discover their own capabilities, they endure personal hardships and deal with the darker side of growing up in middle school.

I love its pacing, each episode hits with emotion. Everyone has their problems and I love seeing a space where they get to get away from it even if it's still haunting them, they act like it's fine.
This episode had it all! Teamwork and perseverance truly shined during that final match. It was phenomenal until the very last minute, which completely blew my mind, because of course, things can never just end happily. What a rollercoaster!
The tension is high, and the psychological weight is heavy, but at its core, this soft tennis duo and the whole team reminds us that having fun and moving forward is what matters. It was a really pleasant episode with some fair competition.
The excitement begins! The preliminaries are finally here, and honestly, nobody knows if they're truly ready. With the club's survival on the line, there’s zero room for doubt. Good thing this team is the ultimate support system for each other. Let's go!
With progress come unexpected problems. Nao, usually a quiet and low-key character, goes through a shocking change here! Still, the show’s pacing remains perfectly balanced, keeping things both intense and exciting.
A beautiful, pressure-free focus on self-acceptance and discovering what you truly like. These personal feelings carry the story so well, both individually and as a team. Also, Yu honestly is perfect for his role as manager team!
Total sports anime vibes here! The friendly rivalry was so wholesome to watch. Also, Tacky is the best, he always shows up at the perfect time like, "chill guys, let's just relax, but I'm proud of you." Truly a comfort character and the definition of chill.
A fresh start! It’s so exciting to see their hard work pay off on the court, especially knowing they’re having fun. Omg, I almost died laughing at that one character's strategy, it was honestly genius. Love seeing them grow!
What a rollercoaster! So much happens in this ep, both on and off the court. Soft tennis is their ultimate escape from reality. The struggles feel so real, especially dealing with their own minds. Plus, we dive into Rintaro. But seriously, what is up with the parents?!
Finally, the new duos are tested! Team chemistry is growing, and Maki brought back to the team the passion and competitive drive for the game. Every detail is so well-crafted that you truly feel what the characters are going through.
Episode 12 stands as a heartbreaking masterpiece. Its stunning animation in the final match shifts from the excitement of sport to a psychological nightmare, underscoring the sorrow of missed possibilities while hinting at a tranquil future.
Episode 11 skillfully blends athletic triumph with psychological drama, offering a cathartic win for the club while amplifying emotional tension beyond the court.
Episode 10 stands out as a brilliantly crafted and emotionally draining installment, refusing to grant its characters an easy triumph over the profound psychological wounds inflicted by their families.
Episode 9 is a highly intense and emotionally exhausting episode, masterfully crafted. It defies typical middle‑school anime conventions, boldly confronting the brutal, selfish, and violent realities of child neglect and domestic abuse.
Episode 8 is perfect. It takes a potentially hackneyed anime trope and turns it into a profoundly moving examination of gender identity, self‑acceptance, and the subtle hardships of middle‑school life.
Episode 7 strikes an ideal blend of victorious sports drama, illustrating that a defeat can be just as narratively fulfilling as a win when the characters grow from the experience.
Episode 6 dispels the myth that hard work by itself secures success. It is a modest, beautifully animated installment that honors the audience’s intelligence by allowing the boys to lose with dignity.
Episode 5 delivers the most visceral and emotionally explosive scene of the series so far, making this the emotional peak of the first half.
Episode 4 deftly merges the hopeful advancement of a sports anime with the intense weight of character drama, rendering it one of the season’s most emotionally crushing and captivating episodes.
Episode 3 blends the athletic storyline with psychological drama, heightening the suspense to watch how these newly mixed duos will fare both on the court and in their troubled domestic lives.
