EPISODE REVIEWS
This episode perhaps most strongly demonstrates that this is a Slice of Life First and not an action anime. While there are several scenes that couldve evolved into action (The Lizard appearing, the general context of where they are), all are easily defused keeping the subject light and friendly. If you are a huge fan of Slice of Life this episode shows how even action can be made cute and fluffy.
The cave adventure is gorgeous, the creature designs are inventive, and Somali's innocence is devastating. But the real gut-punch is Golem's promise. He's a being who was never supposed to feel emotion, and now he's making promises he knows he can't keep because it's what his daughter needs to hear. The show is setting us up for absolute heartbreak.
