Unlike anime, for donghua, I usually am a lot more picky. And honestly, besides this donghua, there's only one other donghua I watch. Because I'm very picky of the animation and I'm also very picky on the story. Slay the Gods is honestly my first donghua that I watched without fail. I watched the entire first season and it's amazing. Purely because the animation is amazing, and the storyline is so unique. The donghua actually got me so interested that I went and I began reading the novel as well. The premise is really interesting and this first episode really helps set things in motion to put you on the edge of your seat!

Alright, that was quite the introduction. Never a dull moment, for better or for worse. Where do I begin? The animation is a little off putting but perhaps I just need time to warm up to it - because it looks like game graphics and a lot of it is sped up and it feels jarring. There's just so much happening at once, especially at the beginning, that you have no idea what's going on. The music that's supposed to give every scene and character "aura" is just over the top and annoying rather than being cool. It's only the beginning but I do hope that the show has a good plot to backup the MC being overpowered right from the get-go (reminds me of a certain other show). So far I just feel like I got a headache after watching that.

I tried this anime because of the poster or is it still called anime if it's Chinese? Idk. Very unusual animation for me and it's a bit new for my eyes. The angles were quite good and I'm also intrigued on the story. A religious theme is always an eye-catcher for me.
