i found the choppy editing on the flashbacks so cool because it made the memories feel as distorted as the current situation

I found the obsession with Kiriru a little creepy but when she stepped out of the tv it actually gave me a tiny scare

every part of the contrast between the sunny visuals and the absolute nightmare of hikaru not being hikaru anymore is so effective and the sound design really drives it home especially when the music stops and you just hear the cicadas buzzing while the entity talks about experiencing human sensations for the first time in that creepy body it stole

As Episode 1 of 4, this is pure groundwork, there is nothing preceding it, and everything following depends on what it establishes here. Ryuuki's dual fixations on Reiko and Kiriru are introduced as the central tension, setting up the emotional and thematic threads that Episodes 2 through 4 will develop and resolve. Skipping this episode means entering the series without the character grounding that makes the later episodes land.
