Synopsis
Ryuuki Kirishima is a teenager living with his older sister after losing both parents, quietly getting through summer with his friends, soccer, hanging out, the usual. Then one afternoon they watch some adult videos as a joke, and Ryuuki finds himself genuinely fixated on one actress in particular, a newcomer named Kiriru. He can't quite explain why. Then she shows up in his life in person, and that summer suddenly gets a lot more complicated. This 4-episode OVA from Blue bread is adapted from a manga and leans into that nostalgic, small-town Japanese summer atmosphere: think long afternoons, cicadas, the feeling that something is shifting but you can't name it yet. Underneath the hentai content, there's a genuine coming-of-age frame here: grief, first attraction, the slow realization that childhood doesn't last. If you've ever watched 5 Centimeters per Second and felt that quiet ache of something ending, or connected with the emotional texture of Anohana, you'll recognize the mood this is going for. It's not as restrained as those titles, obviously, but the emotional bones are similar. Four episodes means it moves quickly without much filler. The character setup is straightforward, but Ryuuki feels grounded rather than generic, a kid carrying loss, stumbling into something he doesn't fully understand yet. If you want something with actual emotional context around its adult content rather than pure fantasy scenarios, this one puts in more effort than most in that space.

good
i found the choppy editing on the flashbacks so cool because it made the memories feel as distorted as the current situation
I found the obsession with Kiriru a little creepy but when she stepped out of the tv it actually gave me a tiny scare
every part of the contrast between the sunny visuals and the absolute nightmare of hikaru not being hikaru anymore is so effective and the sound design really drives it home especially when the music stops and you just hear the cicadas buzzing while the entity talks about experiencing human sensations for the first time in that creepy body it stole
that action sequence with tanaka was such a shock and it gave the start of the series a lot more momentum than the early manga chapters
I was a bit worried about the transition from the manga page to the screen, but the voice acting for the entity really captured that creepy and unnatural feeling perfectly.
you can feel the heat in every scene from the bright saturation and it makes the horror stuff feel even more wrong when it actually happens
the art style is so unique and it really helps capture that feeling of dread when you realize hikaru is just a shell for something else
using those bright and summery colors actually makes everything feel more threatening and it really makes the village look like a beautiful place hiding something gross
i think seeing the entity try to understand what it feels like to be a person was so weird and that shot of the eye crying was beautiful
those long pauses in the dialogue made the whole thing feel so heavy and you can really tell something is deeply wrong with hikaru just from his voice
Having Tanaka show up this early was a massive surprise, but that action scene really helped sell the danger of the forest right away.
the animation is definitely a step down from the manga art and you can tell they cut some corners during the forest scene
I thought he was going to bolt when Kiriru appeared in the forest right as he was doing his business and she just stayed there to help him
the way this starts with the car accident and his sister Reiko acting all weird makes it feel way heavier than a normal hentai, and then you see him in the forest getting caught by the actress he was just watching on screen. it really makes you wonder if that is actually his sister in a wig or something because the resemblance is crazy
