I think Akane truly represents the darkest side of humans. People can be terrifying when they have the chance to do something. But in the end, it will still feel empty.In this episode, everyone lets out their dark side onto other people. It makes this series even more emotionally messy. But overall, I still liked this episode too.
Episode 4 features a psychologically sharp character study that deconstructs the "perfect rival" trope, revealing how emotional avoidance disguises itself as control.
Akane’s character exploration really put me on edge. I feel bad for Mr Kanai. He just happens to be in the middle of all these catfights. The full display of each character trait really gives a creepy vibe. Still, it is the very human nature that is indeed creepy to the core. This episode gradually becomes able to point it out. I like the director’s take and the use of animation as a metaphor here.
