Continues to build the foundation of the series with steady pacing, heartfelt character beats, and serviceable visuals. While the soundtrack and art don't elevate the experience, the emotional impact of the protagonist's challenges makes the episode engaging.

The episode explores a bit more on the customs of the Onikin, it is quite different from human customs. It's Dias second time handling political matters and I must say, he handled it pretty well. To be honest, I was pissed off on the reaction of the 3rd princess after Dias recounted what happened on his first day there. One thing that looked odd in this episode was the alternating CGI and 2D during the battle, it looked really odd. Couldn't the studio just focus on at least one style.

I like the slower pacing, but this episode definitely feels like setup. Most of it is preparing pieces for future conflicts rather than delivering big moments.

The engagement scenes were wholesome overall, but the age gap is hard to ignore. It definitely made some moments feel a bit awkward.

Princess Diane's arrival finally brings some tension after a mostly laid-back episode. That cliffhanger definitely has me curious about what's next.

Going from zero subjects to a wife and a mercenary in one episode is a pretty solid start and the population of the frontier is finally starting to look like a real community

Aruna using her soul appraisal to catch those nasty red auras was a cool touch, and it confirms the royal guards were never there with good intentions in the first place

That moment where Dias put the axe to the knight’s throat for being disrespectful caught me off guard and his killing intent was actually terrifying for a second there

The King clearly pocketed the money meant for the territory and seeing the princess realize her father is a liar made that whole diplomatic meeting even more tense and awkward

Aruna banning him from the yurt because of the stinky ogre blood was such a funny shift after that big fight and Dias looked so pathetic cleaning his gear in the river

Watching Dias choose to stay with Francois instead of going back to some stupid war shows how much he actually cares about this land and his animals, and since most protagonists would jump at the chance for a royal wedding it just makes him stand out because he only wants his sheep to be safe and it made me respect him

Princess Deahne really thought she could just bribe him with marriage and it was hilarious when Dias basically said no thanks I have pregnant sheep to worry about instead

The age gap between Dias and Aruna makes me pretty uncomfortable and even if he says he will wait three years it still feels weirdly forced for a reward

Klaus showing up at the end and asking to be a mercenary was the highlight of the week and it felt so good to see a real friend join the team after that royal mess
