Episode Context

Sitting at episode 12 of 94, this installment arrives as a cooldown after the Oniwaban Group arc's climactic battles, pivoting from Kenshin's conflicts to build out the ensemble cast. Yahiko's development here isn't filler, it's foundational groundwork that deepens his role as a recurring pillar of the series. This character-focused breather sets the stage for the longer narrative threads and escalating confrontations that define the early stretch of the show.
