High-stakes action peaks you can feel from the episode. The duel takes place inside a dimly lit subterranean labyrinth cavern, utilising glowing crystal cave walls and heavy particulate dust graphics to heighten the close-quarters claustrophobia. I also love how the plot expands in this episode.
The arena fight scene was a standout, featuring a fluid blend of blood, fire, magic, and high-speed action. Their faces perfectly captured a mix of tension, rage, and a softer side to their personalities.
Despite the poor writing of some characters, the show managed to redeem itself with this episode. A spectacular, action packed segment that kept me on my toes all throughout. Nanao really was the star of this episode. Not only that, but it also involved some great character development with Andrews. And did I mention it was brutal? It really was, quite the surprise. If the show can keep this up, it can be great.
