A brilliant introduction to the school's unique blending of sorcery and blade combat. Visually, you can see in the episode that the sword duels feature lightning-fast neon spell effects that cast dynamically, with flashing colored highlights across the characters' faces.
The duel brought the sword's sharpness to life with smoke across the battlefield, and the swelling tears were effective. The voice tones fit each character perfectly, adding just the right amount of tension.
The more I see, the more obvious the references are. At this point, it's a 1:1 rip-off rather than just references (It's Harry Potter). But still, it was fun to watch. The action did hold up decently well. Not great, but alright. Not a fan of the forced drama (in classic fashion) to prove a point, though. But the labyrinth ending certainly got me intrigued as to the school's weirdness and quirks.
